THE HALF-HOLIDAY. The Premier to-day received a deputation of traders on the question of a universal half-holiday. They pointed out that Saturday would be an inconvenient day for dosing, and urged that a referendum on the question be submitted to the people in such a way that they would be able to give a proper answer.— Mr Seddon said he was not going to use any Government influence respecting the Shops and Offices Bill, but would leave it to the House of Representatives. He admitted the force of the deputation's contentions, and it was for the traders to j influence the public in the direction mdi- i cated by them. !
