The North Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, as agents for the Cockshutt now Co. of Canada, held a field trial of the three-furrow Excelsior plough of ihe Company yesterday on the farm of Mr Charles Grant, Awamoa Those present, the majority of whom wero farmers, declared themselves as being pleased with the work done by the plough, which to mkny of them was a novelty. One feature of the implement is that the driver rides and does not follow the plough. In the trial yesterday the, three-furrow i plough was set at widths from 9 to 12 inches and ploughed to depths varying from 2 to 8. inches. The implement was also tested in hard ten-year-old 'ea, and did its work so satisfactorily in ovcry respect that Mr Grant became the owner. Mr Yager, the representative of Uie company, superintended the trial, while Mr Aitken was present oa behalf of Messrs Morrow, Bassett and Co., the r.jionial agents.— Extract from the Oaimaru Mail.
