Market Report

Southland Times Office, Jan. 28th. Oats.— No export business of any consequence has been reported during the week. Enquiry for small parcels of B grade at equal to Is s_d f.o.b. has been made by Sydney houses and it is anticipated that further business on a small scale may be expected from the same quarter, pending arrival of new stout Tasmanians. Reports aro- to hand that the Victorian crop was badly damaged in some parts by heavy rains, but in the meantime there would appear to be little prospect of renewing business with that State. Oa_ts are not coming forward as freely from the country as was anticipated and it would appear that the supply of really good sound oats is now small, and any fair demand for such would certainly cause the market to harden.
