Per United Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 12. The weather was dull for the second day of the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Metropolitan Show, but the attendance was not affected. The entry of sheep, though less than last, is quite up to the average oi some previous years, and, in point of quality, it has never been excelled. In Border Leicesters John Little was awarded first and championships for ram' over 28 months and for ewe above 16 months, with lamb at foot, lr; liiorolns tho N.Z. and A.L. Co. wen; awarded first and championships for ram over 28 months and for ewe o.ver 16 months. In the same breed Charles Withell secured a special prize for five flock rams. In Southdowns the executors of James Johns were awarded the champion prizes for ram abovo 28 months aucj for ewe above 10 months, with lamb at fo.ot. Bealey Bros, were awarded first and championships for Romney Marsh ram and ewe, being the only exhibitors of this breed. Alexander Reid's Ayrshire cow, Lady, was considered by the judges the best allround in the milking cattle class. William Cow a n was awarded the championship f o r Ayrshire bull, calved since 30th June, 1901. also champion cow. The N.Z.L. and MA. Co. got. a gold medal for a Moam waggon and a silver medal for an exhaust and blast threshing machine : Morrow, Bassett and Co., a silver medal for the McCormick reaper and binder, for simplicity in construction ; .Andrews and Beaven take a gold medal for a thresher and a silver medal for a potato digger (Anj drews' patent) ; P. and D. Duncan, a silver medal for a f>-feet cultivator, and a gold medal for Wat kin's loading crane attached to a traction engine; Cooper and Duncan, v silver I medal for a 7-feet cultivator. The falling-olT'of 100 i n the entries of sheep is accounted for by reduced nomination's of unpopular breeds — Lincoln. Border Leicester and Romiiey—and the dispersion of several English Leicester flocks. For line combing merinos Robui t Campbe.ll and Sons : strong combing. A. W. Threlkeld , Border Leicesters, John Little : Lincolns. N.Z. and A. Land Co. (Moetaki) ; Ronmeys, Bealey Bros. : Southdowns, Executors of the late J. Johns : Shropshires. Rupert Parry and Sir George. Clifford : Dorset horned. T. 0. Hay ; Corriedale. J. StringlicUow ; halfbreds, Sir (Jeorge Clifford, R. Rainey's Highland Prince secured lirnt and champion in entire horses : Bong's Royal Fame second. Bong. V.vifzg, Taylor and Small took the principal awards in tho other classes. Taylor securing the cup for the largest prizelaker in the section. The cattle show was an improvement on that of recent years, the principal feature be- : irig v team of Ayrshire*: from W. j Rowan, of Enlield, Oamaru. Shorthorns were well represented. E. Ruddock, Southbridge. took the championship for h cow. fl"}u- woodchopping competition was won "by R. Kxiba, M. Doody second, and C. Smith third. An engine-driving competition was won by H.
