Per United Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. Tho Auckland Temperance Crusaders discussed Mr Seddoni's proposal to prohibit liquor in private houses in prohibited areas. On one side it was thought by some that the proposal was a little too drastic ; and, on the other, it was affirmed that prohibition that did not prohibit would be useless. A resolution was carried by 40 to 3 in favour of prohibiting drink in private houses. The body of William Benning, a gumdiggcr, near Mercer, was found in a gully. Search parties had been endeavouring to lind him for over a fortnight, a 9 he left his tent with a loaded revolver, and his mate received a note sayirur that he was , heartbroken and wishing him tfcoribye. The revolver was clutched in the dead man's hand. He had shot himself through the fca-ehead. WANGANUI. Nov. 3.
