WELLINGTON, Oct. 25. About ti_Mi o'clock last night detectives and police raided an alleged " two up " school in Marion street. The 'building in which gambling was supposed to he carried mi was known as the Olympic Club, and was ostensibly used as a school of physical culture and boxing, a pugilist named Kturyeon Icing one ot the. instructors. f For some time the place had bpi?j\ under suspicion, but an pin bo rttto system of alurim* had been fitted up and the police had great difficulty .in getting entry. Two men who had been acting for the police were stationed inside, on the pretence of being gamesters, and materially assisted in tha arrest. The front door was rushed by Inspector Ellison amf Detective McGrath as a player was let out. and the inner guard wns secured before ho rould give an j alarm. The second barricade was opened' by a confederate and the rest was easy. Altogether 35 men were arrested. The manager, William Hpnry 'Eager, alias Richard Oxeuhaiu, will be charged with keeping a common gaming house, and the others with being iound, without lawful excuse, on premises used as a gaming house. The accused are principally labourars, clerks and theatrical men.
