The King in Austria.

VIENNA, Sept, 1- ] Received Sept- Ist, 9.47 p.m. King Edward received a magnificent j welcome to Vienna, and most hearty greeting from Emperor Franz .*oseph. He will reside at the Hofburg j during his stay. The Emperor, proposing King Ed- j ward's health at a banquet given in i his honour, said he considered the visit a fresh pledge of tho close toniidential rotations of the two coun- i tries, which were all the firmer owing to the absence of any political interests which might cast a Shadow or cloud over them. Ho thanked King Edward for many proofs of friendship. King Edward, reciprocating these friendly sentiments, said his reception at Vienna had touched him deeply. He was always in the greatest sympathy with tho Emperor and the imperial houso of Austria, and his feelings would continue to bo of the warmest. He appointed the Emperor a field-marshal of the 'iritish Army. The appointment was a surprise to all present ; the Emperor rising and bowing and pressing King Edward's hand.
