A bulletin this evening states that the Pope secured some hours' painless rest ; that his pulse was regular and his condition unchanged. It is stated that flu examination of the liquid suggests pleuritis of rheumatic in character.
July 1 L
Drs Mfuzzoni and Kothsoni declaro that a cure of the pleurisy from which the Pope is suffering is impossible, and that an operation is necessary. The present weakness of the Pontiff is the greut obstacle to its performance.
Owing to. the condition of the Pope the, visit of King Victor Emmanuel to Paris is postponed till September.
The Pope is so active that he disregarded the injunction to remain in bed and often walked, with assistance, to an arm chair, where the doctors generally found him and ordered his return to bed. Replying to l.ho remonstrances of the doctors he said he wished to die standing. He took beef tea and egg last night and there is a prospect of the patient passing a quiet night.
