The money for the scheme has already boon found. The trustees include Lord Rosebery (chairman), Duke of Devonshire. Mr Balfour. Sir Francis Mowatt , Mr Julius Wornher. Mr Ilaldane. Dr Archibald Robertson, vice-chancellor, and Sir A. W. Pucker. Principal ri the University. Tho cost, apart from tho site, will bo £MO0,0()0. Donations have beon received from Lord Strathcona, Lord Cashol and others. Tho Commissioners of the 180 l Exhibition give a site valued at £200.(100 adjacent to the University buildings. Kensington College will be the school of the University, working in co-operation with a central technical college, tho Royal Collogo of Science and other branches. Facilities will be afforded for original research. In a letter unfolding tho scheme Lord Rosebery asked the Loudon County Council to undertake its maintenance, which he estimates at £20,000 per annum. Lord Rosebery strongly emphasises the importance of picked students of tho Motherland and colonies finding opportunities of 1 acquiring the most advanced oduca- j tion within tho Empire. The newspapers recognise the importance of Lord Rosebery's scheme from the standpoint of training for British mining engineers, metallurgists, and chemists.
