. « — WINTON. At the elections o;i Wednesday Messrs Hurst. Kennedy, Williamson and Liddell were returned for the North WttKl, andi Messrs McWilliain. Wilson, Smith and Blyth for the South Ward. Out of 109 voters in each w ard. 7.9 recorded their votes in the North and 03 in the South. —Own correspondent. liIVERTON. A considerable amount of interest was taken this year in the election of councillors, the result being some very close polling. For the North Ward the result was— W. It. .I'ankhurst CB, J. Lockett IV7, 11. Ackhurst <><>, J- Robinson 59. The defeated candidate polled 47. For the South Ward— W. E. Blackmore 45, K. K. Smythies 43, J. LjW 43, P.Welsh 3C>. the unsuccessful candid»\tes polling i>9 and lv>.
