The Prince of Wales has informed the St. Louis Exposition Commission that the Government has placed a 'preliminary vote of £30.000 on the Estimates towards the cost of representation, and expressed a hope that Britain would make a collective not an individual display.

Mr T. M. Wilford. New Zealand M.H.It., in an interview published in the Daily News, declared that the Privy Council's strictures on the New Zealand Government and judiciary are unwarrantable and unjust, and straining the silken thread of Imperialism. There should, he thinks, of necessity be a more representative body of judges for colonial appeals.
GENERAL
Venezuela and tho Powers sign, on May 4th, a protocol submitting the question of preferential treatment of claims to The Hague Arbitration Tribunal.
An appeal is made for £12,000 in order to re-send the Morning to the Antarctic as the Discovery is only provisioned till next January.
The Victorian Government has been awarded a prix d'honncur at the French National Cookery exhibition for tinned dried fruits, dried meats, cereals and wines.
The Shaw. Savill and Albion Co. has declared a dividend of ~> per cent, and carried forward £2265.
