At the Electoral Commission to-day a memo, was read from the Telegraph Department stating that the telogram announcing the i»sue of the writs for tho general election was received late on tho night of 11th November and delivered, to the Registrar early on the 12th. Tho Registrar, who had previously stated thos he received £he telegram on the 11th, said this had boon his positive belief until the present moment. Mr Reed, acting for" the complainants, referred to the question asked of witnesses by the chairman oil Friday as to whether the taking of- a claim for enrolment to Masefield (the Opposition candidate) alter the issue of tho writ was not intended as a trap. Mr Reed said the newspaper reports had given some people the impression that the chaii'iiiuii Intended to condemn thu action. Mr Tlasolditi said he' did not intend to either condemn or approve <>f the action and that perhaps "lest" would have been a better word.to. use than " trap " -
