WELLINGTON, Feb. 2

The criminal sessions opened to-day. The list is a small ono. F. K. Godfrey,, for forgery, came up for sentence. Tho offence was committed when he was drunk and restitution had been made. He was admitted to probation for onayear and ordered to pay £3 5s costs.

Tho grand jury threw out the bill charging Chris Rynan, a Hindoo, with indecent assault, and amended a charge of rape against John Hutcheson to onfty of indecent assault. Hutcheson was ny raunded for trial at next session. John Murphy was found guilty of indecent assault on a girl of seven years, the jury recommending that ho should be flogged. The prisoner was remanded for sentence until Wednesday. James! Julian was found guilty of housebreaking at Fox- * ton.
