New Zealand. (iW United Press Association.> — AUCKLAND, Nov. 13. At Whangarei, Fritz Falliman, a remittance man, cut his throat. He was taken to the hospital, and is in a precarious condition. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13. At the meeting of delegates of Acclimatisation Societies held yesterday, it was resolved that the meeting, consider it advisable to hold a conference in Wellington on' 23rd January, 1903, for the purpose of forming a society for New Zealand, and that the various societies be asked to each send two delegates, with voting power for one, to tile conference, and authorised to tike a.I the necessary steps for the formation of a central, association. ASHBURTON, Nov. 13 Mr David Gordon Holmes, under whose supervision Lyttelton tunnel was constructed, died at Rakia. last night, aged 67. HOKITIKA, Nov. 13. The four prisoners who recently escaped from the warders 'here were before the Magistrate charged with escaping from custody, and were committed for trial. They complain of being placed iii close confinement since their Ye-arrest and dieted on bread and water ; also that no visiting Justice had seen them.' The Magistrate promised to see that a Justice visited the gaol to enquire into their complaints. DUNEDIN, Nov. 13. Moore and Mary Ana Mills were before the Court to-day, the former charged with the murder of Lottie Ancell, and the latter with siding and abetting, and accused were remanded to appear at Waipawa on Friday week. TIMABU, Nov. 13. A plebiscite taken hero on the Bible >n schools question resulted in o.er 90 per cent of those voting recording their votes in favour of the proposal.
