The designs may be utilitarian or purely ornament al or a combination of both. Though no site has yet been definitely decided upon the monument should be suitable for erection at the intersection of two streets each two chains wide. The funds available are expected to be from £lOOO to £2OOO i Designs and estimates to be forwarded to the Mayor of Invercargill and must bear postmarks not later than 30th November. Premiums of £lO and £5 will be paid as prizes for the designs awarded first and second places respectively. The designs must not bear the names of the competitors but must bear a distinguishing name or motto and be accompanied by a sealed envelope similarly marked and containing the ntfine of the designer.
