The “ Excelsior ultivator is more mple, stronger in construction, and lighter m draught th»” anv oth" r . —Morrow, BasB ett and Co., sole agents New Zealand. Freedom’s Sword.—This tale, by Annie S. .Swan, is one of the “ days of Wallace and Bruce.” The story opens in the ancient Castle of Trabost, the home of the widow of Sir Allan Mackintosh. Her only son and heir is stolen from the castle, and after vain endeavours to learn some tidings she undertakes a pilgrimage to the court of King Edward at Westminster. Later the reader is introduced to Wallace, Scotland’s hero, and to a good deal oi fighting at Dundee and on the fatal field of Falkirk. The trial and death of Wallace are described, and the story concludes with the events which led up to, and with the success of “ the Bruce at Bannockburn.” Needless to say, the boy who was stolen in the first chapter plays a prominent part throughout.
