Wellington, June 9. The Agent-General cables, | under date 7th inst :— "Dull sale for all qualities of mutton, and a further drop in prices seems imminent. The average price to-day for Canterbury is 4d Dunedin, Southland and W.M.E. Co, 3|d ; ot]ier North Island, 3£d. The lamb market is depressed, and stocks are aCCUfflUlating Tk© average price for Canterbury brand is 4|d ; other brands Ud. The beef market is weak : N.Z. hinds, 4|d ; fores, 3«d Butter is steady, but N.Z. supplies are finished. Danish 103s, Siberian 91s, Canadian 98s. The cheese market is dull and buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower than 565. The hemp market is steady. Good fair Wellington, on spot, £35 ; June-Augußt shipments, £29 10s ; stock 384 tons, against 295 tons last year. Cocksfoot seed is firm, and buyers have been offering more freely: N.Z, 171 b standard, 495.
