COLENBRANDER AT WORK AGAIN.
MORE CAPTURES. DE WET'S POSITION. [United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.] London*, Jan. 23. Received 24th, 12.55 a.m. Colonel Colenbrander captured seven of Steenkamp's men in the Magaliesberga and unearthed twenty barrels of gunpowder and two rounds of shrapnell. The sentence passed on Lieut. Botha and others belonging to one of the Cape district mounted corps for misbehaviour and cowardice in surrendering at Doornbosch after exhausting their ammunition before the enemy came within range, in October, has been reduced —Botha's to one year's imprisonment and the others to lesser periods. Received 24th, 1.3 a.m. Lord Kitchener reports that General Methuon, after a running fight of eight miles, captured a laager of 23 Boers and much cattle at Boschpoort. General Bruce Hamilton, by a night march against Botha, captured 27 at Witvank. Blockhouses, constituting a parallelogram of 140 miles by 60 and enclosing De Wet, are almost completed.
