♦ A meeting of creditors in the estate of Adelaide Sincott, " boardinghouse keeper, Invereargill, held in Mr Rout's office, yesterday afternoon, was attended by five creditors ; Mr R. H. Rattray appearing on behalf of the debtor, whose statement showed that there were creditors (all unsecured) for £229 9s 9d, against which there was farniture worth £100, and book debts estimated to produce £4, the deficiency being thus £125 9s 9d. The creditors were P. Thomson (Wellington) £94, D. Roche £33 lOs, D. R. Jones £31, A. R. Leckie £29 6s ©d, Broad, Small and Co £14, McGruer, Taylor and Co. £11, W. E. Pope £5 2s 4d, Dairy Supply Co. £4 12s lld, W 0 Waterston £4 2s, R. G. Spiers £J-3 3 6d, Herbert, Haynes and Co.- *lrj 6a, and T. Flint 16s. ... '-" Debtor s»t>rn, said Bhe had been keeping the Union boardinghouse since 14th July, 1900, when she had no capital, and her only debt was £100 borrowed from Mr P. Thomson to purchase furniture. All the other debts, excepting Broad, Small's and McGruer's, had been incurred within the last few months. She first found she was getting into difficulties just before Easter, but hoped that she would pull up again after the winter was over. She filed because two of the creditors were pressing her. When pressed she cold out expecting tb realise sufficient to pay the creditors in full, and with this in view she gave orders to Messrs Jonea and Roche for the full amount of their claims. When she found that the valuation waa only £87 she filed in order that all the creditors would share equally. She had no proposal to make, and the high price of necessaries during the winter had a good deal to do with her present position. A statement prepared by Mr Rattray showed that for the sixteen months debtor had been in the boardinghouse the receipts were £868 9s. The expenditure was : butchers. £400 ; groceries, £199 12s 6d ; rent, £96; wages, £96 ; Broad, Small and Co, £41; coal, £40; bread, £36; gas £32; milk, £28 16s; drapers £19 16s 9d; P. Thomson, £11; a total of £1000 5s 3d. - A creditor etated he would like the meeting adjourned to allow of Mr Roche being present and on hia motion this was decided on, Friday next being fixed as the date.
