[Per United Press Assogiatios]. WELLINGTON. Sept. 28. The New Zealand Shipping Co is advised from London that the hre on the Papanui has been extinguished. The vessel will be detained five days at Vigo. The damage had not been ascertained. The Rimutaka sails for the colony on 10th October in her , stead. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 28. An old settler named James Sefton, of Oakura, was thrown from his hocse this morning and killed. Tho horse shied at cyclists and unseated him. DUNEDIN, Sept. 28. Th. sixteen sections of the Pomahaka Downs estate which were thrown open for selection at the Crown Lands Office, produced no applications.
