The Late Peter Mackay.
TO TIIE EDITOR. Sin, — Would you kindly allow mo throngh your columns to make a suggestion to the members of the Veterans' Association and the friends of tho late Peter Mackay. Some years ago, when Mra Mackay died, tho Endcavotu-ers of St. Paul's Church, Dee street, who had taken an interest in her during her long illness, along with a few f rientis, kindly undertook to pay tho funeral expenses and purchase the section in tho Eastern Cemetery, whore she was buried. Nothing has ever been done to tho section. Some time ago, when visiting tho grave, Peter expressed the wish that ho might be buried beside his wife : that has been done. It seems to mo that it would be only a fitting thing now, and somo little atonement for the neglect (pofhaps I should say oversight) shown in connection with tho funeral, if friends contributed a littlo to fence the ground, and put up a small stono to mark tho spot where one who had served his country in some of her hardest battles lias been laid to rest. I shall bo pleased to help in carrying ont this suggestion if it commends itsolf to the friends of the old veteran who has just fallen before the last enemy — Death. — lam, etc., Geo. Lindsay. St. Paul's Manse, ISth Dec.
