AX INTKRBSTING REUNION. [By Tei-eorafh.] Christchi'rch, Dec. 18. The old colonists' dinner was held in i:he Cantorbiiry Hall to-day, when about "50 pilgrims won present. The hall was crowded, and a relay for 100 was necessary. The Mtyor proposed the toast of "The Queen"' and that of " The Governor." His Excellency, in turn, proposed The Pioneers, in a happy little speech, in the course of ■which hi: mentioned that one of hie ancestors had been tho founder of the State of Pennsylvania. The old colonists were conveyed in drags during the afternoon to the residence of Mrs Dwinsat Ri< carton, by whom they wjre entcitai led. Some : 2so well-known local poojilo v.'ore also present by imntation aud hi« Excellency the (Governor, Hods. W. C. Walker. Rolleston and Bowen and the Bishops of Christchurch and Melanesia Mere among the guests. There were no speeches, but Mrs Deans who, with her huslnnd, was settled at Rccarton some years before the arrival of the first four ships, received her visitors on the lawn. Tho hall of her reaidence, which is built in tho old English style, was greatly admired, and it is noteworthy that thd oak of which it is constructed win grown upon tho Riccaiton estate.
