The Paris Exhibition accounts show a deficit of two million francs. Frozen meat quotations — Crossbred wether and maiden ewe : Canterbury, 4|d ; Dunedin and Southland, 4|d ; North Island, 4|d. Lamb, none offering. River Plate crossbred or merino wether, heavy, 3d 15-16ths ; light, 3f d. New Zealand beef, 1 80 to 2201 b, fair average quality ox : hinds, 3d 10-16ths per lb. At the sheepskin sales 4264 bales were offered and all sold ; combing merinos and fine crossbreds advanced a halfpenny to five eighths ; clothing merinos a halfpenny ; crossbreds, a farthing.
