The Wrong Trunks
♦ -^~A party of merry young girls entered the station and wended their way in the direction of the baggage room. Each carried a mysterious parcel. A few wordß of explanation in the ear of the porter, followed by a gleam of Bilver, brought them before the towering heap of outward-bound baggage. •Here they are,' Gried one of the girls, pointing to fcwo trunks a little aside from the rest. 'I am sure these are the wedding trunks.' Then the parcels were opened and old shoes and white ribbon brought) into view. It did not take a great while for those jolly girls to bedeck the trunks with old ahoee, bound securely with white ribbon. •Where ie that card, Eva?' inquired the girl who was winding the ribbon aronnd the aides. 'Here it is,' and she handed over a square curd inscribed : 'The Sugar Moon.' Then they filed oat. Ten minutes later there was a big commotion in the direction of the baggage room. 'I'll give ten dollara to know whose work this is !' shouted a little perspiring man. 'What is the trouble, sir V inquired a station official. •It may have been a rival company.' •What V •But if I thought it was done in this station I would sue the company. Yes, sir ; I would sue the company.' •What is the matter with yon ? Has any one offended you ?' 'Yee, sir, they have. I am travelling salesman for Bootman and Co., the largest ahoe manufacturers in tha state. (To injure mo, some scamp has bedecked uiy sample trunks with old shoes. Bat I'll find the culprit and make it hot for him.' A few feet away the uniformed portei grinned. •Laws, dem ladies dun went en gob dc wrong trunks. But Ah bes' had keep quiel if Ah values mah job.' •Papa,' said little Peroy, 'why doesn't ma pin travel with the circus ?' 'Why VMi Henpeck osked, 'what; could she do in a oir cub? 'She might be tbo Btrong woman. ] heard her telling grandma the other day that she oould wind you around her littli fjngtr jiwt as easy as nobbing.'
