[By Telegraph] CIIKISTCHURCH, Nov. 16. Thos. H. Mabin, found guilty of criminal libel, now said he had decided to retract the statements made, apologise, and throw himself on the mercy of the court. The Crown Prosecutor was instructed to prepare a retraction to be signed by Mabin and published. Mabin was also bound over on his own bond that he would not repeat the libel, or he would be brought up for sentence on the present charge. The case against H. V. C. Styehe for attempting to procure the murder of his wife is set down for Monday. John Harland, convicted of indecent assault, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labour. Thomas Grogan and Roderick Mclsaacs were acquitted on a charge of assault and robbery at Springtield. Wellington, Nov. 16. Angus Young, convicted of assault with intent, was sentenced to two years' hard labour. Gilbert Laurenson was found "Not Guilty " of theft of carpenters' tools. Frederick Joseph, otherwise Caliil, (Syrian, pleaded " Not Uuilty " to a charge of carnally knowing a girl Hve years old. The hearing was not concluded when the court lose,
