[By Telegbaph.] Wellington, Nov. 16. Louis Ferdinand Tegner, clerk in the office of the resident engineer at Hunterville, was charged to-day with the misappropriation of £87 3s 9d, moneys of the Crown. The allegation is that there is a shortage of somewhere about that amount in moneys which passed through Tegner's hands as part of the imprest account Tor the payment of wages, etc. It was stated in evidence that £201,000 had pjwsed through the accused's hands in the last three years. The accused, who was committed for trial, made a statement, saying that he hail passed more than £100,000 through his hands, and if any sum could not be accounted for that was due to omissions to deduct cash advances from workmen or to ove. payments, or to loss of vouchers.
