IKT«RtM Fecretart: Wm. Timpany, Esq, Invercarg II (Temporary Office— Care- R. W. Hall, Athenanim Buildings). Thja Company is projected for the purpose of acquiring and working mining areas, and in particular an area of 38 acres, more or leas, forming part of Sections 17 and IS, Block VII, Oteramika i Hundred, being part of the land held by William Timpany, under license for a special claim dated the ' third day of April, 19U0 ; and also an area of about 80 " *cres of freehold land adjoining, forming part of Sec ; tions 14, 15, and 1(S of same block, and hi Id under i agreement by the said William Timpany from W. A. Neiderer. ' The claim is situated alongside the Gorge Road i Railway htition, 19 niles from Invercargill, and is » most favourably situated for the delivery f materials ', required by the Company, and the water supply is 1 ample, McCallum's Creek, which flows through the centre of the claim, never having been known to ■ discharge less than about 15 heads of water. Oteramika Gorge being in the centre of a sawmilling industry, suitable timber either for building the dredge or for the purpose of fuel can be procurtd at the lowest possible figure. Coal also, if found to be recessary for the dredge, can be delivered on the ' ground from Inveroargijl at a most reasonable rate. j 500 contributing Bharea have been applied for by i the promoters, who undertake that no transfer of their paid-up shares shall be registered before the first wash up takes place. i The preliminary expenses attached to the flotation and incorporation will be borne by the Company. ! Dividends will be paid per share irrespective of the amount paid up. J Priority of application will be considered when ' allotting the sharea. The only agreements entered into by the vendor, aa affecting the company are the following :— . (A) Agreement dated the 17th day of March, 1900, made, between the Slid William Timpany and N. A. Neiderer. (b) Agreement dated the 19th day of June, 1900, made between the said Willnm Timpany as vendor, and Bichard Williamson Hall of Invercargill, Solicitor, as agent for amJ on behalf of tbe Company. The original agreements or copies thereof may be seen at the office of the said R. W. Hall, Solicitor for the Company, at the Athenseum Buildings, Invercargill. The promoters have spared no expense in thoroughly prospecting the claim, Mr Thomas Martin, together with Mr James Sheppard of Tiabury, both of whom have bad upwards of 30 years mining and prospecting experience, having sunk no less than 16 shatte (the sites of which are shown approximately on the sketch plan herewith) on the claim. Messrs Martin and isheppard reported that the average prospect from these shafts wa4 estimated by them at from 3£ to 6$ grains to the load. The attention of investors is however specially i directed to the accompanying reports by Messrs John Corbetb and H. W. Parsons, the Managers for the Undaunted Company at Oreputu, and Mr J. R. Perry's dredge ar. Waibalra respectively. The reports of these gentlemen are founded upon an exarai ation oT the shafts referred to, as well as of others put - down at their request. It is a well-kncwn faot that the Oteramika Gorge is all gold bearing ; all the tributaries of McCallum's t Creek (flowing through the centre of the claim) having been worked by diggers in a very primitive way, the average wage made having been from 25s to 40a per week per man, nevertheless. Mr H. W. Parsonp, dredgeroaster, Waikaka, gives a very full and detailed report, of which the follow- ' ing is a paragraph :— " From what I taw of the flat I consider it a very [ suitable piece of dredging ground, as it does not appear to have any very di*Bcult features to cope with. There are no hard seams of clay, and the gravel is easilj washed, and the gold is not very difficult; to save, and it appears to be pretty evenly distributed throughout the gravel, and from measure- . ments given me and the prospects I got I estimate the average amount of gold from 3§ grains to 5$ grains per load or yard, which I oonsider a very fair average ; some parts may even go more. Mr John Corbett, in the course of his very favourc able report, saye : — " This stream, which runs through the centre of your land, at the time of my visit was discharging from 12 to 15 Government heads of water, sufficient for any ordinary dredge, and I was told on r. liable t authority that the creek was at its lowest at that time. So far as is known your ground runß from 8 to 12 feet deep, and I may state that with the means at their disposal your ground has been thoroughly prospected, the work being done in » very systematic manner, creditable alike to employers and employed. Tbe prospecting which has been none has proved ' the ground to a width of 6to 10 chains on either side , of the creek; although it would have been more satisfactory if there bad been a few holes sunk to the main bottom in tbe centre of the valley ; but without an engine I believe this could not be done. However, tbe prospecting which has been done has proved the ground payable to the above-mentioned depth. From what I have seen of your property, taking into consideration that it is situated within 19 miles of Inveroargill, with the railway from thence running through the claim, plenty of water to wash the stuff, manuka and black pine growing along either side of the valley, which can be utilised for fuel, gold which is heavy, clean, and bright, and can be easily savtd without the least trouble by the ordinary method ; ■ and bearing in mind that every gully running into > tbis valley has been worked with satisfactory results, some of them paying very well indeed, I have no hesitation in saying that you baye a very valuable property, which with an inexpensive dredge will give j very handsome returns. Wish ing you every success. J. H. KIRK & CO., HAVE FOB SALE CLOVES SEED -i RYEGRASS COCKSFOOT BOHEDUST J. H.
