The Newfoundland general elections have resulted in the supporters of the Ministry formed by Mr R. Bond in March last being largely re-elected. Mr G. E. Foster, who held the portfolio of Minister of Finance in the last Conservative Government, has been chosen leader of the Conservatives in the Canadian House of Commons in succession to Sir Charles Tupper. Lords Selborne and Clarendon and Messrs Gerald Balfour and J. PowellWilliams (ex-Financial Secretary to the War Office) have been gazetted Privy Councillors.
