The Hartley and Riley dredge's return was 56 oz 6 dwt for 35 hours. The Nokoinai Hydraulic Sluicing Co. obtained a return of 535 oz 3 dwt for the month, the actual sluicing time being 12 days. "*' At a meeting of the directors of the Belmont O. D. Company, held on Thursday night the engineers reported that Messrs Morgan and Cable's contract for buckets, ladder, etc., was now in a forward state and that everything would be ready for delivery on the date agreed upon, viz., 22nd November. Timber is being cut on the west bank of the Waiau and as soon as the contract is completed Messrs Mouat and party will commence the alterations and fitting up of the new machinery. The pontoon, when dismantled, will be used to convey the timber across the liver and as the contractors have a large party of men it is anticipated that everything will be ready for a start within the contract time, viz., 28th February.
