PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS AND PROMOTERS ! William Baird, Esq, Winton ; James Brown, Esq, Lady Borkly ; R. Hargre»ves, Esq. Invercargill ; Wm. Forrester, Esq, Umehills : John Forrester, Esq, Clyde ; G. H. Hoodie, Esq, Dunedin ; James MoUallum, Esq, Gorge Road ; N. A. Neiderer, Esq, Gorge Road ; Robert Timpany, E> q, Invercargill ; Thomas Timpany, Esq, Invercargill. Bankers : The National Bank of New Zealand Ltd. Solicitor : Richard W. Hall, Esq, Invercargill. Brokers : Messrs Richard Allen, C. J. hojds, and Wm. burley and Co, Inveroargill. Intrrim Fecretary: Wm. Timpany, Esq, Invercargill. (Temporary Office— Care R. W. Hall, Athenamm Buildings). This Company is projeoted for the purpose of acquiring and working mining areas, aDd in particular an area of 38 acres, more or less, forming part of Stations 17 and 18, Block VII, Oteramika Hundred, being part of the land held by William Timpany, under license for a special claim dated the third day of April, lf»u() ; and also an area of about 80 acres of freehold land adjoining, forming part of Sections 14, 16, and 16 of same block, and htld under agreement by the said William Timpany from N. A. Neiderer. The claim is situated alongside the Gorge Road Railway feution, 19 miles from Invercargill, and is most favourably situated for the delivery it materials required by the Company, and the water supply is ample, McCallum's Creek, which flows through the oentre of the claim, never having been known to discharge lees than about 15 heads of water. Oteramika Gorge being in the centre of a sawmilling industry, bu! table timber either for building the dredge or for the purpose of fuel can be procured at the lowest possible figure. Coal also, if found to be recessary for the dredge, can be delivered on the ground from Inveroargill at a most reasonable rate. 500 contributing shares have been applied for by the promoters, who undertake that no transfer of their paid-up shares shall be registered before the first wash up takes plaoe. The preliminary expenses attached to the flotation and incorporation will be borne by the Company. Dividends will be paid per share irrespective of the amount paid up. Priority of application will be considered when allotting the shares. The only agreements entered into by the vendor, as affeotiDg the company are the following :— (A) Agreement dated the 17th day of March, 1900, made] between the skid William Timpany and N. A. Neiderer. (b) Agreement dated the 19th day of June, 1800, made between the said William Timpany as vendor, and Riohard Williamson Hall of Invercargill, 'Solicitor, as agent for and on behalf of the Company. The original agreements or copies thereof may be seen at the office of the said R. W. Hall, Solicitor for the Company, at the Athenteum BuildiDgs, Invercargill. The promoters have spared no expense in thoroughly prospeoting the olaim, Mr Thomas Martin, together with Mr James Sheppard of Tisbury, both of whom have bad upwards of 30 years mining and prospeoting experience, having sunk no less than 16 shafts (the sites of which are shown approximately on the sketoh plan herewith) on the olaim. Heßsrs Martin and Sheppard reported that the average prospect from these shafts was estimated by them at from 34 to 6J grains to the load. The attention of investors is however specially directed to the accompanying reports by Messrs John Corbett and H. W. Parsons, the Managers for the Undaunted Company at Orepuki, and Mr J. B. Perry's dredee an Waikaka respectively. The reports of these gentlemen are founded upon an examination of the shafts referred to, as well as of others put down at their request. It is a well-known fact that the Oteramika Gorge is all gold bearing ; all the tributaries of McCallum's Oreek (flowing through the centre of the claim) having been worked by diggers in a very primitive \ way, Ihe average wage made having been from 25s to . 40s per week per man, nevertheless. Mr H. W. Parson*, dredgemaster, Waikaka, gives a very full and detailed report, of whioh tde fo:low- . ing is a paragraph :— I " From what I raw of the flat I consider it a very suitable piece of dredging ground, as it does not appear to have any very di*flcult features no cope with. There are no bard seams of clay, and the gravel is easilj washed, and the gold is not very diffl- ' oult to save, aDd it. appears to be pretty evenly distributed throughout the gravel, and from measure- , ments given me and the prospeote 1 got I estimate the average amount of gold from 3J grains to 5^ grains per load or yard, whioh I ooDsider a very fair average ; some parts may even go more. j Mr John Oorbett, in the oourse of bis very favourable report, says : — " This stream, whioh runs through the centre of your land, at the time of my visit was discharging from 12 to 15 Government heads of water, sufficient t for any ordinary dredge, and I was told on reliable authority that the creek was at its lowest at that time. | to far as is known your ground runs from 8 to 12 feet deep, aDd I may state that with the means at } iheir disposal your ground has been thoroughly pros- , peoted, the work being done in a very systematic ( manner, creditable alike to employers and employed. ' The prospecting which has been done has proved the ground to a width of 5 to 10 chains on either side j of the creek ; although it would have been more j satisfactory if there had been a few holes sunk to the ) main bottom in the oentre of the valley ; but without an engine I believe this oould not be done. However, I the prospeoting which has been done has proved the ground payable to the above-mentioned depth. From what I have seen of your property, taking into consideration that it is situated within 19 miles of Inveroargill, with the railway from thence running through the claim, plenty of water to wash the st«ff, manuka and black pine growing along either side of the valley, whioh can be utilised for fuel, gold which is heavy,' clean, and bright, and oau be easily saved I without the least trouble by the ordinary method ; , and bearing in mind that every gully running into this valley has been worked with satisfactory results, some of them paying very well indeed, I have no j hesitation in sayinsr that you have a very valuable property, whioh with an inexpensive dredge will give very baudeome returns. Within? you c v cry success,
