It is officially announced that Lord Roberts sails for England on loth November, assuming the position of Commander-in-Chief in December. Lieut. Aldridge,of the Orange River Colony Police, with ten men from Rouxville, working along the Basutoland frontier, galloped over the hills into the town of Zastron, captured the Landdrost and nine Boers, and released two Britishers. The women combatants at Jagersfontein are being removed to Cape Colony as a punishment. The Boers had held Philippolis for several days, when the Yeomanry and Nesbitt's Horse expelled them, inflicting losses. Capetown, Oct. 2G. Seven hundred of the Australian troops have quitted Pretoria, and embark at Capetown for Australia shortly. A hearty farewell to t lie men is being prepared. Colesburg is being garrisoned. Aytoun's Queenslanders captured two field cornets and a number of waggons at Peinars River.
