The steamer Pukaki sailed for Oamaru at daybreak, and the Talune for Dunedin at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. The Tyser liner Star of Australia berthed at thi wharf yesterday morning. The Star of Australia has a gross tonnage ot 7198 tons, this making her one ol the largest, if not tbe largest vessel that has yel visited the port. She is 446 feet long, 66 fett beam and bu space for 100,000 carcases of mutton. She ii commanded by Captain Simpson, who is well knowr locally, and his officers are : Messrs Willis, chief Griffiths, second ; Brookes, third, and Orr, fourth Mr MoDonald is chief fingineer, and Mr Coombes chief refrigerating engineer.
