(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Apg. 2. In the sly -grog cases heard at Te Awamutn there were eight informations against 15 persons. The tines ranged from £15 to £40, totalling, with costs, £431. In newly every instance the fine was paid. A case has been deoided in which the plaintiff (Fort) sought to recover money advanced to defendant (Direy) on an agree* ment that if Direy established his claim to a large property in chancery the repayment would be at the rate of £100 for every £100 advanced. The Magistrate held the plain* tiff entered into a foolish siieoulation on a remote chanoe of Direy proving his olaim. and was therefore not entitled to recover.
