Auctioneers’ Reports Wrighb, Stephenson and Co report having held their usual sale of stock in the Invercargill yards on Tuesday, when cattle and sheep came forward in large numbers, the yards being taxed to hold them. Prime quality were well competed for, for others the eale was very draggy. Fat Sheep—l76l penned. Prime wethers and maiden ewes brought from Ils 6d to 12s 3d ; prime fat ewee, 9s to 10s; lighter, 7s to 8s 6d. Store Sheep—l 393 penned. Wethers, Ils 6d to 12s for very forward; others, 10s 6d to Ils 3d, wethers and maiden ewes, 10s to Ils; breeding ewes, 4,6, and f.m, 10s to Ils 6d ; f.m do, 9a to 10s for best; others, 6a to 8s; lambs, 7a 6d to 8a 6d ; lighter, 6a to 7s. Fat Cattle—l2s penned. Prime bullocks brought L 7 to L 7 17s 6d; lighter, L 5 to L 5 15s; fat cows, L2 10s to L 5 ss—extra heavy, L 7 7s 6d. Store Cattle—l3B penned and sold at prices equal to those ruling at late sales. J A Mitchell and Co report having held their fort* nightly sale of stock at the Invercargill yards on Tuesday, when there wasa large entry of sheep—l76l fat and 4393 stores being penned. Turnip sheep are enquired for, and sell readily ab full values. Lambs, if in forward condition and big, also sell readily at quotations. Breeding ewes are duller of sale, most of the buyers apparently having got supplies. Cattle—l2s fat and 138 store yarded. Best quality was well competed for and sold at prices fully equal to last pale’s rates. We sold a pen of extra bullocks to Mr W Wills at L 7 17s 6d (top price), a pen of extra epeyed heifers to Mr T Maltby at L 7 7s 6a (top price), and others at quotations. Store cattle were the dullest sale for some time, and a large proportion were turned out unsold. We quote: bullocks, L 7 17s 6d to L 7 for extra heavy ; medium, L 6 10s to L 5 10s ; lighb, L 5 to L 4 ; cows and speyed heifers, heavy, L 7 7s 6d to L 6; medium, L 5 10s to L 4 10s ; light L 4 to 50s Sheep—Wethers, 12s to Ils ; medium, 10s 6d to 8s for small; fat ew< s, 10s to 9s; medium, 8s 6d to 7s 6d; aged and thin, 7s to 5s 6d; breeding ewes, 9s to 4s 6d; boilers down, to 2s; lambs, 8s 7d to 4s, according to size and quality. Invercargill Horse Market—We held our weekly sale in the Prince of Wales yards on Saturday, when we had 30 forward, including Mr Eunson’a contracting lot of 9, which, being just out of hard work and in good condition} were well competed for at up to L 36 for 5-year-old’s, and others at quotations. Light horse:, if good upstanding sorts and suitable for harness, are in request, at fair prices. We quote : best goodj draughts, L 36 to L 25; medium, L 23 to Ll 5; aged, Ll 4 to L 5; upstanding light harness horses, Ll 3 to LlO, medium, L 9 to L 7; small and light, L 6 to L 3.
