[By Telegraph.] Wanganui, March 1. Shooting began this morning with the second range of the Wellington match, which concluded before lunch. The result being : —King (Oamaru), £6, 93 ; McGregor (Oamaru), £5, 91; Storkey (Napier), £4, 90 ; Newland (Marton), £4, 88 ; Robinson (Invercargill), £3, 87 ; Nimrno (Oamaru), £3, 87 ;G. Fraser (Kaitangata), £2, 86 ; Kruse (Wanganui), £2, 86; Henderson fAuckland), £2, 85 ; Welch (Wairarapa),£2, 85. After lunch the Christchurch match was fired. The wind was light but very tricky and the shooting was not above the average. Burford (Timaru), who won the match last year,’,won it again to-day, with a good score of 48. After this was finished, the Obago match, ten shots, at 300 yards was taken, and, strange to relate, three members of the Wellington City Rifles led with a good score of 45 out of 50. Madden’s, however, was best and took the first prize. The following is the result of the shooting after lunch, only the chief prizetakers being given :—Christchurch match, 10 shots at 600 yards—Burford (Timaru), L 6, 48; Steadman (Whangarei), £5, 45; McMillan (Dunedin), £l, 44 ; King (Oamaru), L 3, 43; Kirk (Petone), L2, 42; O’Neill (Wanganui), £2, 42 ; Storkey (Napier), £2, 42; Perry (Wanganui), £2, 42. Otago match, 10 shots at 300 yards— Madden (Wellington), £6, 45; Glaridge (Wellington), £5,45; Turner (Wellington), £4, 45: S ephen (Timaru), £3, 44; Harding (Blenheim), £2, 44; Wilson (Woodville), £2, 44; A. Ballinger (Wellington), £2, 43; Love (Wellington), £2, 43. The following are the 1|) highest of 100,who fire in the grand aggregate to-morrow : — King (Oamaru), 444; Armstrrng (Dunedin), 416; Richardson (Dunedin), 411, Lester (Christchurch), 410; Me regor (Oamaru), 409; Feest ( Wairarapa), 408; Perry (Wanganui), 407 ; C. Holland (Petone), 404 ; Storkey (Napier), 403; Milner (Napier), 402. The final stage of the championship will be fired on Friday, and King, who has fired very consistently throughout, should win easily.
