The JUDGES WERE GREATLY PLEASED WITH THE SIMPLICITY, ACCURACY, and EVENNESS of tie WORK DONE BY THE COLONIAL AND UNANIMOUSLY PLACED IT FIRST. “ What the Canterbury Press says about the SHOW and the CONTEST—“The large crowds of people visiting the Show Grounds will have had the pleasure of seeing the very extensive and magnificent display of agricultural machinery and general farm and tation implements, of the very latest designs, and finished in a style of workmanship which reflects the very highest credit on the various manufacturers. Special interest was centied in the collection of implemecls which competed for the Agricultural Conference’s prizes at a trial held on Mr W. Boag’s farm, Burnside, on the Bth inst. Though the judges actually arrived at their decision on Tuesday, it was deemed advisable not to make known the awarfis till yesterday. The chief prize, the Gold Medal, was awarded to the Colonial Combined Grain, Turnip, and Manure Drill, manufactured by the Southland Implement and Engineering Company, and entered at the trial by Messrs Morrow, Bassett and Co. The judges’ report cn the manner in which this particular drill did its work was most favourable.
