Reports have reached litre that the bombardment of Santiago had begun. The American morale has been restored and the position of the troops is greatly strengthened. Throughout America Sunday was devoted to thanksgiving services. Twenty thousand refugees are at Caney and Sibony, many of them starving though laden with jewellery and money. MADRID, July 11. Received 12th, 1 a.m. Tho wai Las resulied in the loss to Spain of 21 watships and 21 merchantmen. The Spanish Cabinet, with the exception of Correa, Aunon, and Blanco, favour peace. Blanco declares that if the army submitted 90,000 Cuban volunteers would continue to resist America.
