Sydney, Jan. 25.
The cricket match, N.S. W. v. Victoria, was resumed to-day on a wet wicket. New South Wales was disposed of for 273, Gregory’s (73) being the only score worth recoiding. McLeod, 2 wickets for 88, and Roche, 6 for 88, carried off- the bowling honours. Victoria, in their first innings, have 7 wickets down for 153—Worrall (not out) 91, McLeod 31.
The Otago representatives arrived by yesterday’s express, and were welcomed by some of the local players. The Southland team is considered a fairly strong one, and as that from Otago is not the strongest that they can put in the field, the contest should be an interesting one. Play commences at 1.30 p.m. to-day on the 1.0. C. ground, and the Garrison Band will enliven the proceedings with a little music. For the convenience of country visitors the afternoon trains have been delayed. Owing to several players being unable to get the necessary leave for this fixture the team to represent Otago has been rearranged and is now:—J. Allen (Taieri), Butler (Carisbrook), Fish (Dunedin), Gunthorpe )Opoho), Hayden (Grange), McFarlane (Dunedin), Ludbrook (Taieri), Parker (Grange), Reatieaux (Grange), P. Spraggon (Carisbrook), Thomson (Carisbrook).
