Hawkes Bay Ram Fair

(By Telegraph) Napier, Feb. i. At the annual ram fair to-day the catalogue was not so large as of late years. The attendance was large and the bidding for really first class Lincolns was good, but second quality were quite neglected. The top price given was 51 guineas for a ram of Mr Sutton’s (Southland); one of the N.Z. and A. Land Co.’s bringing 42 guineas. Prices for good stud sheep generally ruled from 10 guineas to 15 guineas, but with few exceptions the flock rams brought very poor prices, the best being 4£ guineas, realised by the N. Z. and A. Land Co. The bulk went at from 1 to 2 guineas and some even lower. Border Leicesters were neglected and Romneys sold at boiling down prices.
