Meteorlogical Vagaries

Mr Turner, of the Department of Agriculture, has kindly furnished to us the following statement of rainfall about Invercargill during tho six months ending 30th June. It is interesting as showing the singularly erratic weather prevailing, January having been tho wettest month and June the driest of the six :

That Invercargill escaped the downpour which caused the disastrous floods in the first week of July is shown by tho following readings in inches :—Ou Wednesday, the Ist iost., o'2o ; 2nd, o’4o ; 3rd, o'7o ; 4tlj r 2 00; sth, o'o3.
