Wyndham

(from our own correspondent.) A most successful concert and dance were held in the South Wyndham school on the evening of Friday in aid of the school funds. Mr W. L. Mitchell presided, and the following ladies and gentlemen readered valuable assistance in carrying through a well selected programme : — Mesdames Mitchell and Hunter ; |Miases Craig and M. Adams ; Messrs JJ. Walker, T. Rabbidge, Adams, Marsh, W. J. Winter, Stretell, J. Morton, and J. Maben, and Master Craig, the school children also contributing a dialogue. After the customary compliments the floor was cleared for the dance, which was kept up withjgreafc spirit till an early hour in the morning, the Misses Craig discoursing music such as is seldom heard in this locality. A meeting of the Wyndham Cricket Club was held in Milne's Hall on Saturday evening, when there waa a good attendanca of members. The President's bat was a warded to Mr J. Golding for the highest batting average in Cup matches last season. A committee was formed consisting of Messrs I. W. Raymond, Jas. McLauchlan, J. B. Crawford, Golding, T. Wood, A. Traynor, and Kirton, to carry out arrangements in connection with a conversazione to be held next month for the purpose of raising funds for the club. Mr Robert Kidd, blacksmith, who has lately been in business at Fairfax, is about to resume his old stand in Wyndham, where it is expected he will soon establish a flourishing business, as he is long and favourably known as a tradesman throughout the district. 29th June.
