For the return match with Yorkshire the Home team is the same a? on the last occasion, except that Jackson replaces Mounaey. Kelly, McKibbin and Eady are resting. The weather was perfect, but the wicket was heavy.
Received 16th, 10.40 p.m. Twenty thousand were present. |The play at the start was of the slowest description, Donnan scoring only four in an hour. Gregory played a dashing innings and knocked up his score, which included 6 fours, in an hour and a halt, and with Hill, he put on 48 for the seventh wicket. The fielding of the home team was smart. Yoikshire started by forcing the game and ran up 39 in half an hour. Trott then put on Jones who dismissed five for 28. Denton was twice missed at the wicket.
The Australians' first innings closed for 1-14, the chief scores being — Donnan 14, Grffen 11, Gregory 59, Hill 17, Trumble 17. Hurst took 5 wickets for 40, Wainwright 2 for 23,» Jackson 2 for 30.
In the first innings for Yorkshire they have lost seven wickets for 96 when stumps were drawn, the chief scores being Jackson 20, Brown 12, Hurst 7, Dantou (not out) 29.
