The Japanese Village
The afternoon concert yesterday was better patronised than on previous occasions and proved very enjoyable. Misses Kirwan and Hishon sang a duet, Mr Raymond contributed a 8010, Mr and Mrs Blue sang and played solos, Miss Lily Price gave a pianoforte solo, and Misses Kirwan, Hishon, Dr Macleod, and Mr Gray sang a quartette ; the performance all through being an excellent one. In the evening there was a very strong muster of the public and the cash taken at the door exceeded all other evenings exclusive of the opening night. The music was in the able hands of the Invercargill Orchestral Society, who also kindly accommodated themselves to the requirements of the programme. The tableaux and the Mikado dance again proved most popular items, the latter being vocifaiously encored. Bu«neaa at the stalls was brisk and owing to the success of the entertainment the committee have been asked to extend the season. This suggestion, if approved by the workers, will be adopted by keeping the Village open on Thursday aad Friday evenings. Particulars of the programme will be seen in an advertisement.
