J. A. Mitchell and Co. report having held their fortnightly stock sale at the Invercargill yards on Tuesday. The entry in all classes was large, and so was the attendance. The demand was very limited, and prices considerably lower than at late ruling ■ales. Pat cattle sold at up to L 8 lor beat sorts ; medium quality steers from L 5 10s to L 7 ; cows and heifers, L 4 Store cattle ranged from 10s to 20s for calves ; yearlings, 25s to 35s ; two year olds, 40s to 555 ; dairy cows (newly calved), to L 6 2s 6d. The grown steers did not reach owners' reserves, and were turned out unsold. Ffct Sheep— Best quality wethers brought up to 10s 3d— one extra lot, 11s ; small and light, from 7s to 8s; ewes, 8s 6d, 7s, 7s 9d, 6s 6d to 5s ; old culls as low as 2s 6d ; breeding ewes from 8s to 5s ; lambs, Bs, 7s, 5s 6d, and culls as low as 3s 9d. We sold 9 Leicester rams on account of jMessrs J. and T. Carswell at 13s 4d to 1 guinea each ; on account of Mr Wallis 2 Romneys at 2 guineas, and 6at 1J guinea each. Several lines were turned out unsold, prices not reaching vendors' reserves. . Horse Market— On Saturday we yarded a fair entry, and the demand for best draughts was brisk up to L 25 for a 5 year old filly, brought in in splendid condition by Mr Brass, and purchased by Mr Allison ; others reached Ll6 to LlB for best sorts ; inferior, L 5 to LlO. Hacks are still dull of sale
We direct attention to our sale on Saturday of 20 horses, drays, plant, etc, on account Mr Win. Baird. As he has finished his contracts this lot will be for positive sale. Land Sale — During the week we sold on account of Mr A. R. Wallis his farm of 120 acres in Waikiwi Bush to Mr Robertson at a satisfactory price, and have other sales pending on account of the featne vendor.

The entries were large, particularly 80 of fat sheep, which, for old ewes, showed a decline on last sale of from Is 6d to 2s per head, younger sheep selling at about late quotations. Cattle were also easier, and a good many lots were passed in. Store sheep were well represented, and anything in the shape of breeding ewes found ready tale. Fat Cattle— Bo head yarded. Best bullocks, L 8 5s ; good, L6 lss to L 7 2s 6d ; medium, Ls l2s 6d to Ls l7s fid ; light, L 4 15s to L 5 ss ; best cows, L 5 15s to L 6 2s 6d ; medium to good, L 4 17s 6d to L 5 12s 6d ; light, L 3 17s 6d to L 4 2s Cd ; speyed heifers, L 5 ss. Fat Sheep— l7oo penned. Best wethers, Ils ; good, 10s 3d ; medium, 7s ; best ewes, 9s lid ; medium to good, 6s 10d to 7s 3d ; ewes and wethers (mixed), 10s 5d ; fat lambs, medium, Bs. Store Sheep— 3ooo penned. Two tooths (mixed), Ss 6d to 8s 9d for best ; medium to good, 6s 3d to 7s 4d ; small, 5s ; breeding ewes (mixed ages), 7s 4d to 7s 6d for best ; medium, 6s to 6s 8d ; culls, 2s to 3s 6d ; lambs, 6s 3d to 6s Sd. Btore Cattle— l4B head yarded. Yearlings, 35s to 39s ; calves, 12s 6d to 20s ; two year old steers and heifers, 4<ss to 58s ; dairy cows in milk, L 6 2s 6d ; dry cows, 48s ; aged do, from 20s.
Andrew White and Co. report having held their fortnightly stock sale at the Invercargill yards on Tuesday. There was a full entry of fat cattle, but only a few pens were of good quality, the balance medium to inferior. Prices for best pens were quite equal to last sales, but inferior were a shade lower, and very hard to quit. Fat sheep were well reprerented. Prime wethers sold at late quotations ; aged ewes were again slack, but we quitted our entry at fairly satisfactory rates. The yards were filled with store sheep, and we note a better demand for breeding ewes and store withers, but lambs and small two tooths show a decline of about Is a head. Young store cattle were inquired for, and we sold almost'aJl entered, but grown bullocks, of which there were a few superior lots forward, were nejrlected and turned out uusold. Following were the prices realised : —
Fafc Cattle— Bullocks, L 5 12s 6d to L 8 10s ; speyed heifers, medium weights, L 5 5s ; cows, L 4 17s 6d to LSIOB.
Fat Sheep — Four tooth wethers, 10s 3d; two tooths, 98 to 9s 9d ; ewes, 4a 3d to Gs lOd ; lambs, 7s 6d to 9s. Store Sheep — T« o tooth wethers and ewes, 8s to 8s M ; small do, 5a to 6s 3d ; lambs, is 4d for small to 6s d ; breeding ewes, 6s Id to 6s lOd for best, and 2s to 86d lor aged, broken mouthed.
