Ah Yow, an elderly native of the Flowery Land, was brought up on remand charged with grossly indecent behaviour in George street North Invercargill, on March 17th.— Mr Hanan appeared for the accused Who pleaded not guilty. Yong Wall acted as interpreter and Detective Herbert conducted the prosecution. The evidence of several girls, of age i ranging from 10 to 14, who were walking to school shoved that aroused had on this, as on previous occasions, acted in a grossly indecent manner. The accused denied the offence, pleading' that . ha was suffering from an internal complaint. This was confirmed by Dr Fuilarton who had examined the man and described the nature of his ailment. — Hia Worship . said he could iot shut his eyes to the fast that the offence had been repeated and wits of a nature that did not justify any leniency. It was not to be tolerated that girls going to school in the middle of the day f/eie to be annoyed in this way. Accused would be sentence I to nine months' imprisonment with hard labour. The magistrate instructed the interpreter to tell him that he would be much more severely dealt with if he came before the court agaiu. The aocueed in reply said he was "not satisfied."
