The P.O. Savings Bank Funds.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —ln your leader oh the subject of the Agent-General’s circular you say that “ nothing short of a grave national crisis would justify the securities belonging to this department being used to raise money for ordinary purposes of finance.” In the name of common honesty I beg to protest against such a doctrine. It is exactly what the Harpers did. They used trust funds to avert a crisis. It did not avert it and our Government are now very active in prosecuting them. No national or private crisis can justify the using of trust funds, other than in the interest of the beneficiaries, not in the interest of the custodians. It is a criminal action in either case.—l am, etc., Nimrod.
