Sydney Sheep Sales

Sydney, July 13. There was not one redeeming feature in to-day’s sales, well bred sheep going for a song and, in the majority of cases, were purchased for boiling down purposes. The sale of long-woolled sheep, which concluded today, marks a pitiable incident in the history of colonial sheep-breeding. It is not easy to assign a cause, but undoubtedly the chief is the dry season, owners find it difficult to pasture their present flocks without additions to them. With few, if any, exceptions breeders suffered severely and this year’s experience will probably kill the Sydney market for a long time to come. Following are the results interesting to New Zealand:—‘Border Leicesters—Grey (Otago), 27 rams at 10s each; Beavan (Southland), at 10s 6d; McCrostie (Southland), 20 rams at 8s; J.
