MELBOURNE, Nov. 5. A shoemaker named Toner quarrelled with and murdered his wife at Elsternwick, almost cutting her head off. A prisoner in Sale Gaol attacked a warder, took the keys, and escaped. • The governor attempted to intercept him,but was knocked down and sustained a dangerous fracture of the skull.
