Waikaia Sports.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) The Waikaia Caledonian Society held their sixteenth annual gathering on New Year’s Day, which was very fine, and many strangers were present. The proceedings were enlivened by the piper, Mr Corbett. The Waikaia Handicap was won by G. Stirling, and the District Handicap by D. Russell. The events were well contested, and to all appearance gave general satisfaction, as did the judges, the secretary (Mr D. Matheson, jun), and the committee in general.
