The Home Secretary, in.reply to a question, said he was considering the propriety of prosecuting Samuels, editor of a paper known as The Commonwealth, upon a charge of inciting Anarchists to commit murder. John Stodgeons, the solicitor - accused by Mr Leigh of malversation, has been suspended for two years. Immense profits were made by the Durham coal owners,, whose men did not join the strike and thus enabled them to command the market. Received 2nd, 0.40 a.m. It is proposed to increase the legacy duties, the taxes on spirits and malt, and to impose a duty on sugar to meet tbe loss of revenue expected from the alterations in the U.S. tariff. The Brazilian insurgents fired on the British steamer Sardinian Prince, doing some damage to the vessel and wounding some of the sailors. The Credits Mobiliere has suspended payment owing to the run on the bank. The liabilities in August amounted to 21 million sterling.
